Drugs seized at Muscat airport, expat charged

Muscat: Drug control teams at Muscat International Airport seized quantities of marijuana and narcotic pills from an air shipment meant for a woman of African nationality.
“The Royal Oman Police arrested a woman of an African national residing in the Sultanate while receiving a quantity of drugs arriving to her by air freight, a statement issued by the ROP said.
“The Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Section at Muscat International Airport, in cooperation with the Customs Department, were able to discover attempt of brining in drugs to the Sultanate through a shipment that was sent to the accused, and within it 6.5 kilograms of marijuana and 300 tablets of psychotropic substances were found," the statement further said.
“The legal action has been taken against the accused,” the ROP statement added.
