Maximum COVID-19 deaths and cases recorded in Seeb

Muscat: Seeb recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths and new cases reported in the country on Wednesday (3 June, 2020), according to data released by the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry’s Tarassud app, which provides updates on the coronavirus in Oman, 194 of the 738 new cases reported on Wednesday were in Seeb. Bowshar had the second-highest number of cases with 145, and Muttrah had a further 139.
Overall, 528 of the 738 new cases – 71.5 per cent of fresh COVID-19 infections – originated in the Muscat Governorate. 35 new cases were reported in Al Amerat, while Wilayat Muscat had a further eight cases, and Quriyat reported eight more cases.
In terms of deaths, of the eight new deaths that were reported on Wednesday, five of them, or more than 50 percent, were reported to have taken place in Seeb. Of the other three who unfortunately lost their lives to the disease, one took place in Wilayat Muttrah, one in Wilayat Muscat, and another in Sohar in the North Batinah governorate.
Muscat aside, the highest spike in reported cases on Wednesday came from the Wusta governorate, which with 68 new cases, now has a total of 110 people infected by COVID-19. In the North Batinah governorate, 54 new cases have been reported, while 34 fresh cases have been traced to South Batinah.
25 new cases were reported in North Sharqiyah, while slightly more than half that number (13) were additionally reported in South Sharqiyah. The Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah reported another 11 cases. Two additional cases were reported in Al Buraimi, while one more case came to light in the Dhahirah region.
The only governorate in Oman that did not report any additional cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday was the northern region of Musandam.
As part of its daily updates, the Ministry of Health has provided advice to people on how to avoid infection from COVID-19.
“The Ministry of Health calls upon all to adhere to the isolation procedures by staying in an isolated room with an attached toilet, and to serve the isolated person from outside the room as instructed,” said the advisory. “The ministry also advises all citizens and residents to keep washing their hands with water and soap, to avoid touching the face, nose, mouth and eyes, and follow the healthy habits while coughing and sneezing.”
The Ministry of Health urged everyone to adhere to the social and physical distancing instructions issued by the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19, and to stay at home, unless absolutely necessary.
