Expat arrested in Oman on drug smuggling charges

Muscat: An expat of Asian nationality has been arrested on charges of possession and smuggling of narcotic drugs, while working in conjunction with an international gang.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a statement: "The Department of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, led by the police of the Northern Al Batinah Governorate, managed to arrest an Asian national on smuggling and possession of drugs charges. Legal procedures against him are being completed."

"The Sultanate of Oman calls on citizens and residents to do more to combat the drug scourge and to inform the police of any information that helps detect drug traffickers and promoters by calling the toll-free General Department of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances 1444 or heading to the nearest police station."
