Muscat: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has activated pollution operations centre to respond to accidents of environmental pollution and climatic conditions in Dhofar Governorate.

A statement issued online by Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs said: "As a result of the tropical depression in Dhofar Governorate, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has taken the necessary precautions measures to deal with the tropical situation where the Pollution Operations Monitoring Center has been activated to work throughout the day and raise the degree of readiness of the support and response team for environmental pollution incidents and climatic conditions in Dhofar Governorate in anticipation of potential risks and coordination with the competent authority to implement the required response operations to deal with environmental accidents. "

The Ministry pointed out that: "The Ministry calls upon the departments of the regions and industrial establishments, the Port of Salalah, factories and production institutions that deal with chemicals, radioactive materials, fuel and hazardous waste to take the necessary precautions to secure these materials in their locations, activate their emergency plans and manage those materials in accordance with health environmental standards."

"We ask everyone to cooperate with the Ministry and report any environmental impacts that may result from this case, by calling 80071999 or 23276542," the statement added.
