'Two weeks average recovery time for COVID-19 patients'

Muscat: The Ministry of Health has said that patients affected by COVID-19 showed an average recovery time of two weeks. The ministry said in a statement that in severe cases, however, the patient may need between three to six weeks for recovery.
The ministry said that the patient was considered cured when they recovered clinically showing a disappearance of symptoms, along with testing negative in laboratory tests using a sample from the throat.
On the accuracy of coronavirus testing, the ministry explained that the examination had a good accuracy rate, showing correct detection in 70 per cent cases. "In 30 percent of cases, the results of the examination may appear negative the first time," the Ministry said.
