Muscat: About 79 per cent of COVID-19 cases in Muscat Governorate are among expats while the rest include the Omani population.
According to the weekly data issued by COVID-19 Data Operation Center till May 16 (week 20), 1044 cases were reported in Muscat Governorate compared to 693 cases in the past week and the total number of cases have reached 4611 as of May 20, 2020, in the governorate.
The Ministry of Health added in the report that 62.5 per cent of cases were reported in wilayat of Muttrah, 17 per cent in Seeb and 6.8 per cent in wilayat of Bawshar.
In details of COVID-19 cases sorted by wilayats and nationality till week 20, in wilayat of Mutrah alone, there were 1871 cases of expats and 273 cases of Omanis being infected.
In Seeb, 358 cases of expats and 230 coronavirus cases among the Omani population were reported. In wilayat of Bawshar, 476 cases among the expats and 100 cases among the Omani population were reported.
Furthermore, wilayats of Al Amerat and Qurayat have not registered any cases among expats, where 91 cases of coronavirus were reported were Omanis.
