Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries issues new decision on Omanisation

Muscat: Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has issued a decision which requires the people in the profession of driving vehicles which transport agricultural products and animals inside the Sultanate to be a citizen of the country.

A statement issued online by The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries said, “The Ministry in coordination with the Ministry of Manpower, has confirmed the decision which prohibits non-Omani drivers from transporting agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, dates, feed, dry leaves palm and as well as animals inside the Sultanate."

The statement pointed out, “The implementation of this decision is also in line with Ministerial Resolution (218/2018) issued by the Ministry regarding the regulation of transport of agricultural products from one place to another.”

“Accordingly, coordination has been made with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) to not allow any non-Omani driver to transport agricultural products and animals of various tonnage.”

The ministry has requested all business owners institutions or individuals to abide by what is stated in the public interest.

“This comes in response to the requests of some citizens regarding the Omanisation of the profession of driving vehicles which transport agricultural products and animals to Omanis inside the Sultanate or from one place to another.” the statement added.
