Unlicensed markets raided in Oman

Muscat: Unlicensed markets in Dhofar were raided by the Food Safety and Quality Department as part of a larger campaign.

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, in a statement said, "The raids were carried out in the wilayat of Salalah in coordination with the Royal Oman Police, Public Prosecution and Dhofar Municipality."

"Over 10 tonnes of food, including meat, fruits and other foodstuff were found to be not fit for consumption, while being displayed in an unhealthy manner. These were confiscated," the statement said.
