Oman sees four deaths in 72 hours due to COVID-19

Muscat: Four people in Oman died due to COVID-19 in a span of 72 hours between Thursday and Saturday, taking the total number of deaths due to the disease in the country to 17.
The deaths were reported by the Ministry of Health, and shared by the Government Communications Centre (GCC).
The first of the four deaths was registered on Thursday, 7 May, and was that of a resident whose death was discovered to be due to coronavirus after medical examinations were conducted to ascertain the cause of his death.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health also announced the death of a 66-year-old resident who had contracted the disease. The third death reported was on Friday, and involved a 43-year-old resident, who was infected with coronavirus. This was the 16th COVID-related death in the Sultanate.
The fourth to pass away due to COVID-19 complications was an 80-year-old Omani woman, making her the 17th casualty from the disease in the country.
“The Ministry of Health extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” said the ministry in each of its statements announcing these deaths.
