Covid-19 Live: 100 commercial institutions closed for violating Supreme Committee decisions

Muscat: The members of the Supreme Committee is holding a press conference. We bring you live updates from the press meet.

1- Minister of Health: 65 are in hospital and 16 cases are in ICU.

2- 40,000 coronavirus tests done in Oman: Minister of Health.

3- Minister of Health: Difficult to know when the virus will reach the peak.

4- 60 cases are reported among health workers. 70% of of them got the virus from others and not from patients

5- Dr. Abdullah Al Harassi, Chairman of Public Authority for Radio and TV: Opening commercial activities does not mean the crisis is over.

6- One institution infected 108 people, says Minister of Health

7 - Minister of Health: Of the total cases, 62 per cent are expats and 38 per cent are Omanis.

8- Minister of Heath: We have not reached the stage of recovery yet. I appeal to the owners of the commercial activities to take note of their responsibilities.

9- Minister of Health: Highest rate of infection in Wilayat of Muttrah is among tailors.

10 - Minister of Health: 398 Omanis are infected in Muscat and the rest are expats. In Al Batinah and Al Dhahlya, the infection rates are higher among Omanis than expats.

11- Minister of Health: We will be opening the skies in phases.

12- Issam Al Zadjal, Chairman of Muscat Municipality: Till date, more than 38 commercial activities are allowed to carry their work.

13- Minister of Health: South Al Batinah is not closed despite having more cases after Muscat. In North Al Batinah, one person transmitted infection to dozens. People should be committed to social distancing.

14- Minister of Health: There are no indications to prove that the pandemic will subside before Eid Al Fitr, so I request everyone to adhere to the social distancing measures.

15- Minister of Health: If there is a second wave of the virus, we will have the same procedures in place.

16- Minister of Health: We have received reports of some companies that forced infected staff to attend work. We are taking legal action against them.

17- Undersecretary of Ministry of Municipalities and Water Resources: 100 commercial institutions closed for violating the Supreme Committee Decisions.

18- Minister of Health: We have so far received OMR 23 million as donations.
