Disrespecting statesmen, public officials is a crime: Public prosecutor

Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al Shukaili, Assistant of Public Prosecutor and Spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor said, “Leaking classified documents issued by all state institutions is a crime punishable by a law that classifies a penalty of up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of 3000 OMR for everyone who copies, publishes or resends these documents during this period.”

The Assistant of Public Prosecutor added: “The slander and disrespecting of statesmen and public officials on the basis of suspicion without insight or any evidence to prove that they committed any act is a crime punishable by the Omani Penal Code with imprisonment for a period of up to two years.”

The Public Prosecution called upon all to be careful and not to commit any type of these crimes so that they do not fall under the legal responsibility.
