No specific drug recommended for prevention or treatment of COVID-19: WHO

Geneva: Are there any specific medications to prevent or treat the emerging coronavirus?

A statement issued online by the World Health Organization (WHO) said, "To date, there is no specific drug recommended for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19."

"However, people who are infected with coronavirus must receive appropriate care to relieve and treat symptoms, and those with severe disease should receive optimal supportive care. Some treatments are still under investigation, and will be tested through clinical trials," the statement added.

The organization pointed out that, "WHO is cooperating with a group of partners to accelerate research and development efforts."
