Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,491.50 points, up 0.55 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.20 per cent at 505.54 points. Oman National Engineering, up 8.51 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Gases, down 6.06 per cent was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 467 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.08 million, with more than 7.57 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 5 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR254,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR147,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR108,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,488.96 points, up 0.09 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Gulf Investment Services Holding, Bank Muscat, Al Madina Takaful, and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 5 per cent, 3.39 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.56 per cent, and 1.25 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 3.85 per cent and 2.91 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,849.58 points, down 0.12 per cent. Oman Cement, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement, Gulf International Chemicals, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were up by 4.25 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively. There were no losing stocks from the sector.
Services index was up 0.41 per cent before closing at 1,715.85 points. Oman National Engineering & Investment, Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, Musandam Power Company, and Renaissance Services were up by 8.51 per cent, 4.2 per cent, 3.38 per cent, 2.76 per cent, and 2.13 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases and, Phoenix Power were down by 6.06 per cent and 3.77 per cent respectively.
