Over 43,000 SMEs registered in Riyada till February 2020

Muscat: The total number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered in the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) at the end of February 2020 stood at 43,592, comprising an increase by 13.8 per cent compared to the same period of 2019, which was 38.317 according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Among the governorates, the Governorate of Muscat topped the list with 14,656 SMEs, compared to 12,639 till the end of February 2019, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 6,897 SMEs, compared to 5,969 in February 2019.
The SMEs registered in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah stood at 5.520, compared to 5,029 in February 2019. The number of registered SMEs in the Governorate of Dhofar stood at 3,657, compared to 3.261 till the end of February 2019. The number of SMEs registered in the Governorate of South Al Batinah stood at 3,228, compared to 2,838 till the end of February 2019.
The SMEs registered in the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah stood at 2,976 SMEs, compared to 2,660 in the same period of 2019, followed by the Governorate of Al Dhahirah with 2,602 SMEs, compared to the end of February 2019, which was 2,353.
The registered SMEs in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah stood at 2,490 SMEs, compared to 2.216 in 2019. The Governorate of Al Buraimi registered 910 SMEs, compared to 785 in February 2019, while the registered SMEs in the Governorate of Al Wusta stood at 488 SMEs, compared to 418. The number of SMEs registered in the Governorate of Musandam stood at 168, compared to 149 in February 2019.
