Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,455.32 points, up 1.69 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.69 per cent at 503.25 points. Bank Nizwa, up 5.88 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, down 10.00 per cent was the top loser. OIFC was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 398 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.00 million, with more than 7.43 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 18 advanced, 4 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR75,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR57,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR18,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,468.62 points, up 1.08 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Takaful, Muscat Finance, Sohar International Bank, and Bank Muscat were up by 5.88 per cent, 5 per cent, 4 per cent, 2.47 per cent, and 1.95 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 10 per cent and 1.9 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,834.07 points, up 0.34 per cent. Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering, and Oman Cement were up by 3.49 per cent, 2.17 per cent, and 0.92 per cent respectively. Oman Cables Industry and Al Jazeera Steel Products were down by 1.49 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 1.24 per cent before closing at 1,694.35 points. Al Batinah Power, Omantel, Oman National Engineering & Investment, Al Suwadi Power, and Renaissance Services were up by 5.88 per cent, 4.79 per cent, 4.44 per cent, 3.85 per cent, and 2.17 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the sector.
