Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,400.94 points, up 0.45 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.08 per cent at 501.42 points. Gulf Investment Services, up 8.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Gulf Hotels (Oman), down 9.93 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as turnover.
A total number of 279 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR422,000, with more than 2.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 7 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR193,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR149,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR43,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,445.46 points, up 0.62 per cent. Gulf Investment Services Holding, Oman United Insurance, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Sohar International Bank, and Al Anwar Holding were up by 8 per cent, 5.45 per cent, 5.17 per cent, 5 per cent, and 4.35 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial Services and Bank Muscat were down by 8.99 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,801.04 points, down 0.07 per cent. There were no gainers from the sector. Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Cement were down by 0.53 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,660.02 points. Al Batinah Power, OIFC, and Ooredoo were up by 2.04 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively. Gulf Hotels (Oman), and Sembcorp Salalah were down by 9.93 per cent and 1.54 per cent respectively.
