Muscat: The Ministry of Education has clarified its decision to issue general diploma certificates for students who have cleared grade 12, instead of the general education certificate, issued since 2009.

A senior official from the Ministry of Education spoke to Times of Oman and said, “This decision to accredit the diploma certificate at Ministry of Education is not related to the exams of this academic semester 2019/2020.”

"The decision is about the name of certificates for grade12 students, and is for qualification name only and has nothing to do with this academic year or the coronavirus.”

The Ministry of Education issued a ministerial decision on Sunday stated that: “The Ministry gives the new name of the grade 12 certificate to be called general diploma certificate for students who have passed grade 12 in all of its categories instead of the previous name, the general education certificate, approved since 2009.”
