Sudan's President Assistant hails Oman Olympic Committee

Muscat: Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), received in his office Major General Abdulrahman Al Sadiq Al Mahdi, Assistant to the Sudanese President.
The meeting was also attended by Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, OOC Secretary-General, and Mohammed bin Isa Al Fairouz, Chairman of International Tent Pegging Federation (ITTF).
According to a press release issued by the OOC on Tuesday, Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair welcomed the guest and hailed the deep brotherly relations between the peoples of the two countries. The meeting tackled a number of sports issues of mutual concern, cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the sports field in the upcoming period. The two sides exchanged views and proposals about the mechanism of supporting the Olympic sports in the future.
Major General Abdulrahman Al Mahdi, expressed his happiness at making this visit to his second home, Oman, and commended the good reception and hospitality accorded to him as well as the efforts made by OOC towards further developing various Olympic sports and the OOC’s continuing support to the tent pegging and equestrian sports.
"The Sultanate plays host to the International Tent Pegging Federation and is a fundamentally active player in propagating tent pegging and equestrian sport," he added.
Major General Abdulrahman Al Mahdi was in Oman to attend the International Beach Tent Pegging Championship held in the Island of Masirah from March 10 to 12. The South African team won the championship while the Omani team finished second overall.
