Oman Golf: Lyn Casey emerges champion at OHI Open Golf tournament

Muscat: Lyn Casey overcame stiff competition to emerge the champion at the third OHI Golf Open tournament here recently.
The 36 hole strokeplay event was held on February 12 and 13 with the first day's action taking place at Ras Al Hamra Golf Club and second at the Ghala Golf Club.
According to the organisers, this year’s tournament received overwhelming support from participants and spectators alike with stellar performances by talented golfers from across the Sultanate. Organised and sponsored by the OHI Group of Companies, the event was attended by corporate heads, business leaders and individuals with a keen interest in golfing.
Lyn Casey took the title with a score of 151 which included a fantastic two under par 70 in the second round at Ghala Golf Club. Tenzin Tsarong was gross runner-up by just one stroke at 152 and Tarun Kunzru came in third place with a fine performance scoring 154.
The overall nett winner was Eddie Mawly (139) and runner-up Aloa Hakeem (141) while Peter Gjisleman (145) finished third.
On Day 1, the best gross was won by overnight leader Vikas Dixit with 75 and best nett by Gurchi Kadan with a fine 67. On Day 2, Azzan Al Rumhy came back to win the best gross with a score of 77 and best nett was Ad Copier with 69.
Fahad Al Kitani, member of Oman junior golf team, played well to claim the Junior category title with an impressive score of net 73. In the Ladies category Sanjoli Singh won best gross for both days with a score of 174 and ladies best nett was claimed by Jamila Doud with a creditable 138.
The prize-giving ceremony was graced chief guest Yahya Al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority Duqm (SEZAD), and Maqbool Hameed Al Saleh, Chairman OHI Group of Companies. The OHI Rolling Trophy was handed over to champion Lyn Casey in a well-attended ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Maqbool, said: “I am happy that the third edition of the OHI tournament was a grand success and being a two-day event for the first time was very well received by the golfing enthusiasts in Oman.
