Majlis Al Shura Office discusses COVID-19 developments

Muscat: The Office of Majlis Al Shura discussed developments resulting from coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on Sunday.
It looked into procedures undertaken on this issue by the departments concerned with a view to limiting the number of people who might get infected and measures to contain the virus’s proliferation.
The Majlis had received (prior to the meeting) various types of messages, including one from citizens working for some private sector companies who filed a complaint on salary-cuts being imposed on their monthly dues during the ‘health isolation’ (quarantine) period.
The Majlis studied the grievance and reaffirmed the importance of non-reduction of salaries of private sector workers.
The Majlis Al Shura Office approved a number of recommendations deemed necessary to help the departments concerned upgrade the efficiency of procedures undertaken by the Government to address the impacts of coronavirus pandemic developments.
The deliberations took place during the Majlis Office’s 10th meeting during the first annual sitting (through 2019-2020) of the 9th term of Majlis A’Shura (2019-2023). The session was presided over by Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
