Muscat: Oman won the lance team gold medal in the inaugural International Beach Tent Pegging Championship in Masirah.
A total of seven teams including Egypt, Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, South Africa and Jordan are taking part in the championship.
In the lance competition, Oman team comprising Hilal Al Balushi, Hamed Al Riami, Sufyan Al Mamary, Ali Al Balushi and Omar Al Hussaini scored 125.5 points to take the gold medal.
Yemen team took the silver with 121.5 points while South Africa settled for bronze with 119.5 points.
The championship inaugurated by High Highness Sayyid Mohammed bin Salim Al Said and attended by Sheikh Talal bin Saif Al Hosni, Wali of Masirah, and Mohamed bin Issa Al Fairuz, Chairman of the International Tent Pegging Federation and Sayyid Mundhir bin Saif Al Busaidi, Chairman of Oman Equestrian Federation.
