Nautilus Swimming Club and ZOGGS to host swim meet in Muscat

Muscat: A massive swim meet will be hosted at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on March 10 by ZOGGS, an International swim wear company and the Nautilus Swimming Club in Oman.
The meet will feature swimmers from the National Swim Team of Oman, the British School Muscat Marlins, the American British Academy Vipers, the Sultan School Sharks, and the Youth Center under the Ministry of Sports of Oman among others.
This is a joint effort to bring together the leading swimming teams in Oman in the same pool. The event is fully supported by the Oman Swimming Association, whose referees and officials will judge the meet strictly adhering to FINA rules and regulations.
Swimmers will be competing in five different age categories in 18 events and the best will be awarded by ZOGGS in recognition of their performance.
ZOGGS will also recognize the coach of the meet for his commitment and contribution to the development of swimming in Oman.
The Nautilus Swimming Club in Muscat was established in September 2015 in partnership with, and based at Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS). It started off with a small group and an Olympic coach on board and has grown into a reputed swimming club with three coaches providing training to more than 100 young people and adults throughout the year.
It has also built up its own competitive team, composed of students from KGIS and other schools who have attended a number of big competitions like Dubai International Aquatic Championships (officially recognized as qualification for Rio 2016 Olympics), CBCE National Championships, etc. and came away with multiple personal bests (PBs) in most of their swims bringing medals back to Muscat.
Now the club has taken a big step forward by teaming up with ZOGGS to host an important meet here in Muscat.
The coaching team is led by Ivan Proskura, who has an huge Olympic and Paralympic coaching background and previously groomed Svitlana Bondarenko for three Olympic Games by making her the European Champion and the ‘queen of breaststroke’.
“We are looking forward to witnessing a great event this Friday, which will hopefully find its regular place on the annual calendar of swim events,” a member of the organizing committee said.
The event will take place starting 8am to 11am and then start again from 2pm and run till about 5pm.
