Oman's education ministry clarifies order on shutting down institutions

Muscat: The Ministry of Education on Saturday, clarified that the decision of the Supreme Committee, to suspend studies at all educational institutions, would mean that administrative and teaching staff would also be given holidays.

In a statement, the Ministry said, "The Ministry of Education would like to clarify that the decision to suspend study includes members of the administrative staff and teaching bodies in schools, other than those who are required by the administration to carry out work during the period of suspension of classes."

The clarification was issued after the decision of the Supreme Committee dealing with developments related to the spread of COVID-19, which suspended study for a period of one month starting Sunday, March 15.
