Muscat: Oman swimmers bagged three medals - two gold and one silver - at the GCC Short-course Swimming Championships at Hamad Sports City in Doha.
Oman’s first gold medal came through Nidhal bin Sulaiman Al Harassi who won the top honours in the 800m freestyle competition. He clocked 8:42.84 to win the gold.
Ayman bin Talib Al Qasmi took the silver in the 800m in a time of 8.43:35.
Meanwhile, in the 200m race, Abdul Rahman bin Yahya Al Kulaibi won the gold medal in a national record time of 2:9.19.
Taha Sulaiman Al Kishry, chairman of Oman Swimming Association and GCC Swimming Organising Committee, and Abdulmunim bin Khamis Al Alawi, member of the technical committee of the GCC Swimming Organising Committee, presented the medals.
In the coming event, Nidhal Al Harassi and Ayman Al Qasmi will participate in the 1500m backstroke and 200m freestyle while Abdulrahman Al Kulaibi will also take part in the 400m medley and 200m backstroke races.
