Muscat: To make a local and global impact through the environmental services and waste management sector, be’ah, represented by the Environmental Center of Excellence (ECE), has launched the first ISWA Regional Chapter for the Middle East and North Africa region.

The Regional Chapter will serve as a hub for all ISWA members across the MENA region to discuss common environmental issues and concerns.

It is a regional network of professionals working to engage with the public and raise awareness about sustainable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective waste management practices. The launching ceremony was held at OCEC.

The panel was led by Sheikh Mohammed Al Harthy, Executive Vice President-Strategic Development Sector at be’ah, and Antonis Mavropolous, ISWA President.

The Regional Chapter will bring together ISWA National Members within a certain geographical area, that aim at promoting their waste management experience and builds bridges towards understanding the environmental issues in the region and the future impact that these issues impose on future generations.

Two of three members from the MENA Region are now working hand in hand to establish this one of its kind association to drive the region’s waste management sector to a more advanced level (Quote)

be’ah encourages member countries in the MENA region, Jordan and Lebanon, to take part in this internationally acknowledged association, as it will provide features including formulations of sustainable waste management technologies in accordance with recognized international standards, in addition to other aspects, such as education and training, research and development, alliances and collaborations, and knowledge exchange.
