OMR1,000 fines on commercial firms in Oman

Barka: Fines amounting to OMR1,000 have been issued by the Department of Consumer Protection to several commercial establishments for violating the consumer protection law.
Barka Royal Oman Police received information about an expatriate woman selling vacuum cleaners door to door and referred it to the Department of Consumer Protection in Barka.
The department took necessary measures and fined her OMR400 for violating the authority decision 258/2015 which states that it is illegal to distribute electrical or electronic products outside of a registered commercial establishment.
A second fine was issued after a routine inspection of commercial establishments by judicial officers from the department where they found a store selling electronic cigarettes.
A fine of OMR 500 was issued for violating decision 698/2015 which states that it’s not permitted to sell electronic cigarettes or shishas.
Another OMR 100 fine was issued against a commercial establishment for raising the price of carbonated soft drink from 150 baizas to 200 baizas.
