Muscat: The Consumer Protection Department in Barka, in cooperation with Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution Department have seized large quantities of herbs and counterfeit medicines from an institution. The institution did not obtain licenses from the competent authorities.
In a statement PACP said : “After receiving some information that an institution is trading with herbs and medicines and practicing the medical profession in the Wilayat Barka, without obtaining licenses and approvals from the competent authorities, we did an investigation to ensure the information is correct and the administration immediately raided the institution.”
“A group of adulterated herbs was seized by repacking it in other new packages, in addition to presence of quantities of packages without explanatory data on it, and other products with medical uses without obtaining licenses from the competent authorities, as this work is oppose to Article (3) of the Consumer Protection Law.”
Yousef bin Ahmed Al Riyami, Assistant Director of the Consumer protection Department said that the institution was practicing its commercial activities despite the expiry of licenses and the expiry of their term which is a violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations.
Al Riyami also praised the efforts exerted by both the Police and Public Prosecutors, and the great cooperation in achieving the public interest.
