Five themed restaurants in Muscat

The Jungle
This is a tropical rainforest themed restaurant created amidst lush foliage in addition to the audio visual effects of chirping birds, roaring dinosaurs, rain and thunder, and so on. From the walls and the ceiling, to the seats and even the crockery, there’s a little bit of wilderness in every nook and corner making it a perfect place for a wild dining experience.

Mumbai Chennai Express
Mumbai Chennai Express is a casual dining restaurant where you can eat inside a train as the interiors emulate the insides of an Indian Railway compartment. From the walls to the seats, it’s a mirror image of a train. Right from the door to the interiors everything there reminds you of the trains that you took as a kid if you have grown up in India. The Bollywood
This vegetarian Indian restaurant in the Qurum Commercial area has posters of Bollywood films and filmstars stuck all over the walls of the restaurant. The menu consists of Indian food but for those who fancy eating with the (photographs of) stars could certainly try it out. +968 2456 5653; Qurum Commercial Area

1947
A fairly new restaurant that started last year, 1947 is soaked in that patriotism and love for India. It’s almost a page from the Indian history book, and is homage to the era when India earned its independence. The old look ambiance is right from the entrance where a huge cannon is placed along with the wooden carvings and inside too the black benches and dark curtains add up to the historic theme. The walls have pictures of Indian freedom fighters as well as newspapers of that time while enjoying a delicious array of authentic Indian dishes. The restaurant has a vintage feel to it due to dim lights, texture on the walls and the waiter’s costumes.

Ananthapuri
Whenever a person hailing from Kerala enters the restaurant he or she is overwhelmed with nostalgic memories of their native village as everything from the steps to the bold traditional engravings on the pillar to the dishes written on the menu smells of Kerala.
