Royal Oman Police suspends use of Civil ID card for travel

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Friday announced that it will suspend the use of Civil Card to travel to and from the Sultanate for Omani citizens and nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

A statement issued online by ROP said: “The Royal Oman Police (ROP), draws the attention of the Omani citizens and the citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries ( GCC ) that the use of the civil card to travel to and from the Sultanate will be suspended for the Omanis and GCC nationals.”

“This decision will apply in all boarders of the Sultanate from Saturday 29,2020 at 12 am,” the statement added

“The exception is for Omanis who are abroad and if they exited from Sultanate with a civil ID, and citizens of the Cooperation Council countries who are currently inside the Sultanate, and they wish to return to their countries, if their entry is with their civil ID card.”
