Two cases of coronavirus detected in Pakistan

Muscat: Two cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Zafar Mirza confirmed.

Mirza asked the people in Pakistan not to panic following the detection of the cases as things are under control. It was noted that both of them travelled to Iran recently.

“I can confirm first two cases of coronavirus in Pakistan. Both cases are being taken care of according to clinical standard protocols and both of them are stable. No need to panic, things are under control. I will hold a press conference on return from Taftan,” Mirza wrote on his twitter account.

He also added that: “no need to panic about coronavirus but be careful and act responsibly! Remember, 97% cases of coronavirus fully recover. Please share widely this PUBLUC SERVICE MESSAGE.”

“It is not a coincidence that Pakistan is the last country among its immediate neighbors to report #COVIDー19. It is a testimony to our strategy. If we continue to apply our SOPs and guidelines and if we all act responsibly we would be able to avoid wide-spread of disease in Pakistan,” Mirza said.

The SAPM informed people that a helpline — 1166 — had been set up for coronavirus patients.
