Oman reports first two cases of coronavirus

Latest: 35 people being tracked for coronavirus symptoms in Oman

Oman reported two cases of coronavirus, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said on Monday.
The two women, who tested positive for the disease, had travelled from Iran.
The MoH said that the two infected citizens are in a stable condition and have been quarantined. The ministry calls upon everyone to adhere to the procedures of home quarantine for all travellers coming from countries where the cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded, and to avoid travelling to those countries.
The Ministry of Health also called upon everyone to keep washing hands with soap and water, or to disinfect them with hand sanitiser, and to follow healthy habits when coughing and sneezing.
Meanwhile, the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) announced that it is suspending all flights to and from Iran starting from Monday until further notice.

A statement issued by PACA said, “The authority suspends all civil aviation flights between the Sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran, from February 24, 2020 until further notice.”
Iran has reported a large number of deaths from the new coronavirus this month.
PACA has also issued a circular to all the airlines operating from the Sultanate of Oman to cooperate with travellers who are not ready to travel to the coronavirus affected countries.
A statement issued by Public Authority for Civil Aviation said, “In accordance with statement No. 6 issued by the Ministry of Health on February 2, 2020, regarding the epidemiological situation of coronavirus, the Public Authority of Civil Aviation wishes to inform all airlines operating in the Sultanate the need to adhere to the instructions. They should extend full cooperation to travellers who appear unwilling to travel to countries that recorded cases of infection with coronavirus.”
