Oman Accident: SQU student dies in bus accident

Muscat: A 19-year-old engineering student died after an incident involving a bus earlier today, a Royal Oman Police source said.
Aya Hilal Al Hilali, from Sultan Qaboos University, was reportedly exiting the bus when she fell or became stuck in the door, according to reports.
A spokesman for the Royal Oman Police said the fatal accident happened as she got off the bus.
"She was wearing an abaya, and while getting off the bus the cloth was stuck to the automatic doors. As the driver drove off, her body was tossed under the vehicle," the spokesperson said.
National Oman Transport Company Mwasalat posted a statement on twitter in English and Arabic.
It stated: "The National Omani Transport Company Mwasalat would like to clarify that the accident which occured today at the Sultan Qaboos University was in connection with one of its buses.
The company would like to extend its deepest and sincere condolences towards the student's family, and prays to God almighty to sheath her with mercy and give patience and solace to her family.
“The company would also like to confirm that it is following the ongoing investigations in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos University and the Royal Oman Police, and will inform you of the results of those investigations in coordination with the concerned authorities."
On its official Twitter account, the university released an obituary statement.
"The Administration of Sultan Qaboos University sadly announces the sad demise of Ms. Aya Hilal al-Hilali, student at the College of Engineering who passed away on Monday the 13th of February. May Allah rest the deceased in eternal peace and grant in eternal peace and grant strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss" it stated.
