Mourning period of late His Majesty ends

Muscat: The 40-day mourning period of Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour will come to an end on Wednesday.
Following Sultan Qaboos’ demise, the Diwan of Royal Court had declared a 40-day mourning period on January 11.

On this occasion, the Diwan of Royal Court had announced a state of mourning and the halt of official work in the public and private sectors for three days and the flying of flags at half-mast during the mourning period.

“The Diwan of Royal Court prays to the Almighty Allah to recompense His Majesty Sultan Qaboos fully for his good deeds, to rest his soul in peace along with the martyrs and the faithful,” the statement had said.
Following the demise, the Ministry of Tourism had issued a statement asking hotels across the country to refrain from holding concerts, arts or musical performances during this period. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour passed away on January 10, 2020.
