Curran holds his nerve to take England past the pole over SA

Durban: England triumphed in a scintillating finish in the second T20I with South Africa on Friday to win by two runs.
With 15 required from the last over, some big hits from Dwaine Pretorius narrowed the equation down to three needed from two, but Tom Curran first nailed his yorker to trap Pretorius LBW before Bjorn Fortuin fell from the final ball, with his paddle sweep finding Adil Rashid at fine leg.
South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first, with Jason Roy (40 from 29) and Jonny Barstow (35 from 17) laying a solid base after Jos Buttler fell early.
While Ben Stokes endured a rusty start, Moeen Ali’s blitzing innings of 11-ball 39 lifted England as he smashed four sixes and three fours: just three of his runs failed to come off boundaries.
Stokes was able to get to grips with the surface as his innings progressed and he finished unbeaten on 47 from 30 balls as England finished on an imposing 204/7.
Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock got South Africa off to a rollicking start, with the latter continuing his excellent run of form, hitting the fastest fifty for the Proteas in T20Is off just 17 balls.
Mark Wood delivered the wickets of the openers to bring England back into the game, and two ace-in-the-hole yorkers in two balls from Chris Jordan made South Africa’s task even more difficult.
But the blistering Rassie van der Dussen smashed his way to 43, and it seemed with two balls left to go, the match and series was South Africa’s. But Curran was the hero, with his slower ball working wonders from the final ball of the match.
