Muscat: Oman ranked first in the world on the index of incidence of terrorism with the least amount of terrorist incidents, a new report has found.
According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2018 from the World Economic Forum, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has also ranked first in the Arab world and 5th worldwide in the 'liability of police services'.
ROP said in a statement online that the report "reflects the absence of terrorist attacks, thanks to the political and security stability that (Oman) enjoys".
"This in turn was reflected in the Sultanate's result in the cost of organized crime on business. It is worth mentioning that the Global Competitiveness Report is about measuring factors that contribute to the acceleration of production and prosperity for 140 countries around the world, relying on 12 core categories that are the pillars of the Competitiveness Index," police said in its statement.
