Drugs seized, dealers arrested in Oman

Muscat: A smuggling attempt was foiled by the Department of Narcotics Control in Musandam.
A senior official said we received an information that an Asian national has hidden a bag full of drugs in Musandam Island for suspects to receive.
“Following investigations, we found the bag. It contained 25,000 psychotropic capsules, large amounts of hashish and five kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine,” said the official.
Meanwhile, at the Muscat International Airport, the Directorate General of Narcotics Control arrested an Asian national for attempting to smuggle in 150 Clonazepam tablets.
In Seeb, the Directorate General of Narcotics Control also arrested four Omani nationals for possession of and peddling drugs with officers recovering morphine from them.
In North Al Batinah Governorate, the Department of Narcotics Control arrested three Omani nationals for possession, peddling and abuse of narcotics.
They were also charged with assaulting a police officer and insulting the dignity of a government official in Wilayat of Saham.
Asian steals OMR7,000 from friend
An Asian national was arrested for stealing more than OMR7,000 from a friend’s account, said a senior official at Ruwi ROP.
“The Ruwi Police Centre received a report from an Asian national that large amounts of money were withdrawn from his account after his ATM card was stolen,” explained the official.
“It was later found that another Asian was with him at his residence before OMR 7,393 were withdrawn,” added the official.
After collecting the required evidence, the Department of Inquiries and Investigations in Ruwi ROP was able to identify the suspect and arrested him.
Confronted with the evidence, the suspect confessed to his crime.
