More than 40 arrested for illegally entering Oman

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested more than 40 expats for illegally entering the country through sea.

ROP’s Coast Guard also seized two boats that was used for smuggling drugs in Dhofar governorate.

Meanwhile, ROP also came to the rescue of 27 citizens after their 11 Omani fishing boats experienced technical snag. “Royal Oman Police Coast Guard provided assistance to 11 Omani fishing boats in the governorates of Musandam, North and South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Wusta, and Dhofar, with 26 citizens on board, after the engines of their boats crashes at the sea. On the other hand, Coast Guard Police boats arrested 41 infiltrators of Asian nationalities in the governorates of North Al Batinah and Dhofar during January,” ROP said in a statement.

“Police also arrested 30 people in violation Maritime and Fishing law and legal procedures against them are completed.”

In Dhofar Governorate, Coast Guard police boats arrested two boats that was used for smuggling drugs. “Seven Asian expats were also arrested,” the statement added.
