Muscat: No-objection certificate has been issued by the Indian Embassy in Muscat to repatriate the bodies of two Indian men who were found dead in Salalah, a consular agent of the embassy said in Salalah.
Mohammed Musthafa and Najeeb Mohammed, both in their mid-40s, were found dead in Dahariz area of eastern Salalah on January 22, 2017.
Both were from the southern Indian state of Kerala.
“The post-mortem has been done and the Indian Embassy in Muscat has issued a no-objection certificate to repatriate the bodies. Now we are waiting for clearance from the Royal Oman Police (ROP),” Manpreet Singh, the
Indian consular official in Salalah, said.
He also said their family members from India are arriving to take their bodies back home this week. “Once they arrive in Salalah, they can claim the bodies,” he said.
Earlier this week, their relatives who work in other Gulf countries had come down to Salalah.
According to sources in Dahariz, the victims were from Ernakulum district of Kerala and planning to start a crusher plant in Thumrait near Salalah.
Sources said the locals saw the bodies in the morning and informed the police.
While the body of one of the victims was found in his apartment, the other was spotted in a nearby building. Police investigations into the deaths are still on, according to the relatives.
