Oman Shura members pay tributes to late HM Sultan Qaboos

Muscat: Members of Majlis Al Shura expressed their sadness and sincere emotions on the loss of builder of modern Oman, late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, who spent his life serving the country for half a century.
A number of members delivered speeches on the achievements made during the reign of Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, which covered the various development sectors in the Sultanate, mainly the legislative and regulatory powers of Majlis Al Shura which represented a qualitative shift for Majlis Al Shura and reflected in the prosperity of citizens .
The session started with the recital of verses of the Holy Quran followed by the speech of Khalid bin Hilal Al Mawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.
Majlis Al Shura chairman said, “This session is dedicated as a gratitude to late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour who was one of the rare great leaders and a wise politician who dedicated his life for building a modern state.” He added that late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour had started his reign with great determination and hard work for the interest of the country.

He said that late His Majesty built a country on a deep-rooted history and heritage with an unambiguous vision and scientific methodology for a brighter future.
He said that during the 50 years late His Majesty turned Oman into a modern state, a testimony of which are the achievements witnessed in all parts of the Sultanate.
Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Zedjali, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Committee of Majlis A’Shura said that the government of late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour has referred draft laws to Majlis A’Shura , wherein the Legislative and Legal Committee of Majlis A’Shura has considered along with referral of the thirty six agreements for opinion prior to ratification.
He said that that Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour has granted Majlis A’Shura more powers and authorities which represented a qualitative shift for Majlis A’Shura.

The meeting was held during the fifth regular session of the first annual convening (2019/2020) of the ninth term (2019/2023) yesterday and was dedicated for eulogy of Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour.
