Cairo: Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, participated, yesterday in the emergency meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers Council at the headquarters of the Arab League.
Alawi gave a speech, in which he expressed the Sultanate’s continued support to the Palestinians in their endeavours for the establishment of their independent state. He also pointed to the significance of establishment of the Palestinian state with its capital at Al Quds, which he said would create a positive environment for both sides and for the sake of peace and stability of the region.
He said that we believe that the US President’s plan is not for immediate approval but peace process could be built on it. It is an attempt that represents a mechanism for both the Palestinian and Israeli sides, however, the final solution should be based on the establishment of the Palestinian state, he said.
Alawi clarified that the US administration called the Arab countries to give the US President’s proposals a chance while the Arab League expects from the US administration to declare its response towards the rights of the Palestinians and those of the Arab and Muslim nations.
On the conclusion of his speech, Alawi said that the solution is what the two sides reach along with providing the Palestinian people with their legitimate rights, otherwise all initiatives and efforts would fail.
