Muscat: Mourning the death of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, the Embassy of Pakistan in Oman held a prayer meeting to offer condolences to the late Sultan on 14 January 2020.
The event, which was held at Pakistan School Muscat, saw special prayers offered for the departed soul, and was attended by a large number of Pakistani community members residing in Muscat, as well as Omani dignitaries. The event was organised to pay rich tribute to the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and his contribution in transforming Oman into a modern, vibrant and developed nation.
Special prayers were offered by Dr Sheikh Ismail Al Aufi, Director General Communication/External Affairs, at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman.
“The speakers highlighted the role played by the late His Majesty in promoting peace, stability, and security in the region and beyond,” said a statement from the Embassy. “In his address, the ambassador of Pakistan stated that the Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos was a great friend of Pakistan and was a wise, visionary, sagacious and benevolent ruler, who had allowed more than 250,000 Pakistan nationals to work and happily reside in the Sultanate.
“He further stated that the late His Majesty the Sultan’s visit to Pakistan in 2001 laid the solid foundations of highly cooperative and brotherly relations between the two countries,” added the statement. “The late Sultan was a nation builder, peacemaker and his contribution was acknowledged the world over, one which will be remembered in the years to come.”
