Only buy electrical devices with Gulf Conformity Mark in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has noted the necessity to ensure purchase of electrical devices that bear the Gulf conformity mark, with the need for a QR code on the external packaging of the product or on the product itself.

In a statement, the ministry said, “It is possible to download the application of the licensing authority to a mobile phone that guarantees electronic scanning of the product and will show all product data or download any application that can scan the QR code to ensure the safety of your purchases.”

The ministry stressed on the procedure to ensure safety, "Dear consumer, the ministry asks you to follow these instructions for your safety and that of your home, so please ensure that you have a Gulf Conformity Mark on low voltage electrical devices and equipment."

The ministry clarified also the importance of Gulf Conformity Mark in the GCC countries. "The Gulf Conformity Mark serves as a passport for goods and products to enter the market. It enables relevant oversight agencies and agencies of GCC countries to track products."



"The Gulf Conformity Mark facilitates to the trader, customs clearance procedures. It also helps the employees of the relevant oversight agencies to ensure that products are complying with the Gulf regulations. In addition, it facilitates the free movement of products between members of GCC countries, facilitates for consumer to verify product data and it contributes to preservation of health and the environment."
