Oman Hydrogen Centre inaugurated

Barka: Oman Hydrogen Centre was opened at the premises of German University of Technology, Oman (GUtech), under the auspices of Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman Al Isma’eeli, Minister of Technology and Communications.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Salmi, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas and a number of academicians, company chairmen, dignitaries, experts and people interested in the field of green energy.
The new centre seeks to develop capacities in the field in cooperation with local and international parties specialised in research, technology, education, industry applications and economy, said Dr. Hussain Al Salmi, Deputy Chairman of Gutech for Administrative and Financial Affairs, noting that the overall aim is to empower Omani cadres to build a “green-hydrogen” economy.
Oman Hydrogen Centre will constitute a base for building skills and know-how for endorsing a green energy. Its main vision is to introduce a clean energy industry using the elements of sun and water to produce hydrogen.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by Hydrogen Rise Company of Germany and Oman Education Services Establishment, owners of GUtech, to establish a private company to market hydrogen in the Omani market and later export the product abroad.
