Careem to end operations in Oman

Muscat: Careem, a ride-hailing app, has announced that it would discontinue its services in Oman starting from next month.

This information was announced on Careem’s official Facebook page.

The statement put up by the officials read: “Thank you for being a loyal customer of Careem. Sadly, we need to let you know that from Monday, February 3rd, 2020, we will no longer be running our service in Oman. It’s been a privilege to have served you together with our dedicated Captains.”

They also said that customers who have any credit left with Careem should utilize it before February 2, 2020.

“If you have any credits left, please use them before Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 otherwise we will refund the remaining credits to your registered credit card. Thank you for your trust,” the statement read.

Careem is a Dubai-based company that briefly started its operations in May 2017 but was asked by the Government of Oman to reconsider their operating model and focus first on working with licensed taxis.

It then announced its new services in October 2018 in the capital city of Muscat in partnership with Marhaba Taxi.
