Muscat: Temperatures in the Saiq Plateau in Oman fell more than 100 percent below the average temperatures recorded for this location every January.
On 16 January 2020, the temperature recorded at Saiq Plateau was -0.5 degrees, reflecting a percentage drop of 106 percent, compared to the average January temperature of 7.6 degrees atop the plateau, according to data shared by the Directorate General of Meteorology at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
A statement from the organisation said: “Although the Sultanate has witnessed in the past few days minimum temperatures that were below average, it did not break the record minimum temperatures that were recorded in previous years, with the exception of Sayq station.”
