Muscat: With Oman’s largest annual festival just days away, the Muscat Festival 2017 phone application is now online and ready to explore.

The app allows easy access to information about all events and celebrations listed for this year.
Available in both English and Arabic, the updated app offers brief descriptions and indicates locations for 22 different events and programmes.
App developer Gulf Cyber Technology stated that it has already registered 9,251 Android downloads and 1,996 on the iOS platform. Operations Manager Smithesh Chandran believes that an app is only as strong as its popularity.
“If the application is promoted, of course, it will see still more downloads and that is the only factor that is relevant. The Tour of Oman will also go live next week, and many hits will be coming from outside Oman,” Chandran said.
Gulf Cyber Technology has also been running the Muscat Festival website for the last six years. In the month of January last year, the website received 1,369,790 hits while February 2015 saw 627,910 hits.
“We get a large number of hits.Every time the server reaches more than 100 GB bandwidth, and we need to increase it further. The website was just launched on January 12 and we are already at 117,773 hits,” Chandran added.
Amerat Park has seven functions listed, while Naseem Park has eleven. Entry fee for adults is 200bs, while children will only have to pay 100bs. Both parks will remain open from 4pm to 11pm. The festival officially begins on January 19.
