Muscat: Twelve people have been rescued from a fuel tanker off the coast of Salalah, the National Centre for Emergency Management announced.
According to authorities, nine other crew members are "still aboard, and the competent authorities are following up their situation."
"Initial information indicates a fuel leakage in the ship. Specialist from the Maritime Security Centre are coordinating with the governmental component authorities to handle the situation immediately," NCEM added.
The international fuel transporting ship experienced a "technical failure" 35 nautical miles away from Salalah, officials said.
