Weather update: Dust alert warning issued in Oman

Muscat: The Oman Meteorology department on Thursday issued a rain and dust alert for residents in the country.
In a statement today, National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicates that the Sultanate will be affected by southeasterly wind causing dust raising and hazy condition over deserts and open areas.

“The weather analysis in the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicates the continues chances of the affecting of a trough of low pressure over the Northern parts of the sultanate starting from today’s evening Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 January 2020,” the Public Authority for Civil Aviation said in a statement.

Chance of rain showers with various intensities occasionally thundershowers, associated with hail, fresh wind and flash floods are expected over Musandam and North Al Batinah Governorates, and extending later on Friday and Saturday to affect Al Buraimi, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Muscat, Al Dakhliah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates.” the statement added.

PACA has also advised all to take precaution during rain, visibility reduction and urged not to cross wadis and venture into sea.
