Muscat: A study on “The Challenges of Private Sector Development and Labour Market Policies” was discussed by the State Council when it hosted Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthy, head of the Economic Committee and Dr. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Maimani, Coordinator of the committee.
Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the Council pointed out that the meeting comes within the framework of regular meetings between the office of the Council and the heads of the standing committees of the Council with the aim of continuous communication and coordination to discuss anything that might boost the activities of these committees.
It will improve the council’s performance and help it in carrying out its duties and powers entrusted to it in the desired manner.
He pointed out that the coming period will witness intense activity of the Standing Committees to accomplish many works entrusted to them as these committees have a key role in the work of the Council during the study and discussion of the subjects referred to them according to their terms of reference, or suggestion of topics for study to enrich the work of the Council and enhance its performance of its vital role.
The meeting discussed with the heads of the committees a number of topics submitted by the office and the Standing Committees of the council for further activation of the activities of committees through overcoming the challenges facing their work.
The meeting addressed the timeframe for the referred subjects by the office to the committees for feedback in order of priority, and to create a mechanism to check accuracy of data and information provided to the Council.
The meeting discussed activating communication channels with Majlis Al Shura and its various committees through joint meetings to discuss the subject studies by both parties in different fields.
It also discussed activating communication channels with the community in accordance with modern systematic mechanisms to ensure the benefit of its visions and aspirations in everything that supports the work of the Council and contribute to the continuous development of its performance.
Office of the Council discussed the proposal submitted by the Committee on Culture, Media and Tourism on “ The Traditional Crafts: Reality and Ambition”, which the committee plans to study during the current annual sitting. The Office decided to transfer it to the State Council meeting for approval.
The Office was briefed on the report submitted by Suad bint Mohammed bin Ali Al Lawatiya, about the participation of the Council delegation in the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament under the theme “ United for Shaping the Future, which was held in last week of December 12-13, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The meeting also reviewed the hosting report by the Trade Union of education sector submitted by the Committee on Education and Research in the Council.
State Council hosted heads of standing committees of the Council at its third meeting of the second annual sitting of the sixth term under the chair of Dr. Mantheri, Chairman of the Council.
