#OmanPride: Online platform boosts graduates’ connectivity with Oman labour market

Muscat: An online recruitment platform that focuses on matching the skills of new Omani graduates and job openings at registered companies is up and running.
Called ‘Wathifny’, the website is a free of charge platform for both job seekers and companies that wish to recruit from it.
“The international community has been utilising the power of the internet to better match job seekers with companies for many years. There has been no such effort that successfully focuses on the Omani market until now, and Wathifny will revolutionise the way companies find potential employees,” said His Highness Dr Sayyid Adham Al Said, Assistant Professor of Economics at Sultan Qaboos University and Managing Partner of The Firm for Business and Economic Consulting.
“There is a mismatch in terms of the job opportunities, and the skills and competencies of graduates, and this platform is more geared towards new graduates, to help them bridge that gap,” noted Adham Al Said. The platform was designed to simplify the recruitment process, where companies are able to register online within five minutes, and once registration is verified they have access to job seekers of all types who are registered on the database.
Companies also have complete flexibility to either post their job openings so that candidates can apply online, or alternatively search for specific candidates in the database.
Once a candidate applies for a job on the platform, the company will be alerted by email and can then evaluate all of the applicant profiles and decide whether they are interested in pursuing those candidates, or wait for additional applications. The website is accessible through any mobile device and allows applicants and individuals to list themselves for free. It is also geared towards Omani businesses and will help showcase their portfolio, training and internship opportunities, as well as any job openings.
“We are building an interactive platform on this website where young graduates can learn more about the companies which are recruiting. We already have a good number of companies involved,” Adham Al Said added.
The team at Wathifny will handle all of the marketing and promotions to ensure a constant stream of new applicants are available for companies.
Launched three months ago, the company has already connected a fast growing number of graduates and job seekers with Omani companies. To participate as a company or job seeker, register at wathifny.com
Launched by The Firm for Business and Economic Consulting, the platform also caters to experienced people as well, and allows businesses to offer their training and internship positions for graduates and students. Wathifny is also on Twitter Facebook Instagram and LinkedIn @Wathifny
